Combined Sewer Overflow Storage Tank
The North Bergen Municipal Utilities Authority’s new Combined Sewer Outfall (CSO) tank is the largest of its kind in New Jersey. Located at 85th Street and Tonnelle Avenue, the facility is designed to capture and store up to five million gallons of excess flow during heavy rain. By holding combined sewage until it can be properly treated, the tank prevents overflows into local waterways—improving water quality, protecting aquatic life, and enhancing quality of life for residents. Once complete, it will be one of the region’s most advanced CSO facilities.
